The Artist's Journey

Renae Carson

Renae Carson is an Aboriginal artist from Mount Isa (Kalkadoon), Queensland, belonging to the Kalkadoon (Qld), Waluwarra (Qld), Wakaya (NT), and Gurindji (NT) clan groups. She creates acrylic canvas works, digital art, and cheeseboards—a practice she developed through the guidance of her grandmother, an accomplished artist, as well as her aunties and uncles. Her artistic style is a fusion of Queensland and Northern Territory dot painting, allowing her to create unique and expressive works. With over 5 years of experience, Renae’s artistic journey is deeply rooted in her cultural heritage and family traditions.

Her style blends contemporary and traditional techniques, incorporating elements of dot painting that reflect both her personal heritage and the artistic legacy of her community. Renae is driven by a desire to share her passion and creativity with others while honouring her family’s artistic traditions. She believes in the power of art to connect people and tell meaningful stories.

Her goals for her art business include building a strong brand that showcases her unique style and culture, reaching a wider audience, collaborating with other artists, participating in exhibitions, and offering workshops. Ultimately, she aims to create a sustainable art business that inspires others and contributes to the broader arts community.
